John R. Henry

John R. Henry, Sr., 86, of the Big Bottom community of Jackson County, TN, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. A memorial service for friends and family will be held at the New Hope Baptist Church on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 11 am. Military honors will be provided by the US Navy. He was born February 10, 1934, in Wellsburg, WV, to the late John Raymond Henry and Alma Lucille Price Henry. On January 14, 1961, he was married to Shirley A. Henry, who survives. He was a retired carpet installer, and an avid fisherman. He served in the U.S. Navy, and was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Brother: Raymond; 2 Sisters: Priscilla and Susan; and 1 Grandson: George Henry, Jr. Survivors include his Wife: Shirley Kaufman Henry of Gainesboro, TN; 3 Sons: John R. (Rosemary) Henry, Jr. of Gainesboro, TN, George Allan (Danita)Henry of Cookeville, TN, and Michael Edward (Angie) Henry of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Brother: Jim Henry of Florida; 3 Sisters: Bonnie French of Florida, Ruth Winkler of West Virginia, and Rebecca Laham of Florida; 11 Grandchildren; and 11 Great Grandchildren. Bro. Randy Heady will officiate at the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project by contacting the funeral home.
