John Carlton Ackerman

Funeral services for Mr. John Carlton Ackerman, 76, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, will be held at 3 P.M. on Saturday, July 21, 2007, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1 P.M. until time of services. . Mr. Ackerman passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN. He was born July 2, 1931, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Louis and Elizabeth Ackerman. He was married to Dorothy M. Ackerman, who survives. Mr. Ackerman was an ASCP certified medical technologist, and was retired from Madison Hospital and Middle Tennessee State Hospital. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of Christ Apostolic Assembly. He was preceded in death by his parents: Louis Ackerman and Elizabeth Ackerman; his wife: Mary Blanche Ackerman; 1 Daughter: Carolyn Sue Ackerman Bell; 1 Son: Gary Carlton Ackerman; 1 Granddaughter: Susan Diane Cox; 1 Brother: Richard Eugene Ackerman; and 1 Son-in-Law: Russell Waddey. Survivors include his wife: Dorothy M. Ackerman of Gainesboro, TN; 2 Daughters: Judy Diane (Mark) Cox of Shelbyville, TN, and Rebecca Denise Waddey of Hermitage, TN; 2 Step-Daughters: Donna Marie (Billy) Bragg of Liberty, KY, and Deborah Kay Cook of Gainesboro, TN; 10 Grandchildren; 7 Great-Grandchildren; and 1 Brother: Robert Williams of Lumberton, NC.
