Funeral services for Joel Holmes, 74, of Jackson County, TN, will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at New Hope Baptist Church in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Pharris Cemetery in the McCoinsville community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 P.M. - 4 P.M., and on Monday from 6 P.M. - 9 P.M. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 10 A.M. until time of services. He passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN. He was born October 5, 1940, in Worcester, Massachusetts, to the late Joel Osborne Holmes, Jr. and Margaret Hubbard Holmes. On July 24, 2010, he was married to Norma Holmes, who survives. He was a tax professional enrolled with the IRS, and was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. He served as a pilot in the U.S. Navy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 infant siblings. Survivors include his Wife: Norma Holmes of Jackson County, TN, and formerly of Brown County, Indiana; 2 Daughters: Megan (Gary) Depping of Graham, Washington, and Corrinne Joelle (Jason) Webb of St. Paul, Minnesota; 7 Grandchildren: Annabelle "Annie", Gabriel "Gabe", Abigail "Abby", Samuel "Sam", and Elijah "Eli" Depping, Jacob Webb, and Jordyn Webb; Stepchildren: Tamara Clouse, Kimberly Morgan, Jon Harsch, and Robert Harsch, all of Indiana; 1 Brother: Donald (Huong) Holmes of New York; Cousin: Bill and wife Carol Harmon of Massachusetts; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive. Bro. Tom Lyles and Randy Heady will officiate at the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the King of Kings Radio Network in Somerset, KY, by contacting the funeral home.
