Funeral services for Mr. Joe B. Ward, 83, of Gainesboro, TN, will be held at 12 Noon on Monday, November 26, 2018, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Anderson Cemetery in the Flynns Lick community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1 P.M. - 8 P.M., and Monday from 9 A.M. until time of services. He passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2018, at his residence. He was born July 11, 1935, in Warren County, TN, to the late John Thomas "Tom" Ward and Ovie Lee Certain Ward. On August 28, 1954, he was married to Lizzie Ward, who survives. He served for 12 years as the former Jackson County Circuit Court Clerk. He was a member of the Flynns Creek Church of Christ, and a charter member of the Jackson County Rescue Squad. He was the Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 429 at Flynns Lick, and the Civil Defense Director for Jackson County for several years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Brother: Charlie W. Ward; and 2 Sisters: Anna Belle Lyles and Katherine Virginia Ward. Survivors include his Wife: Lizzie Ward of Gainesboro, TN; 2 Sons: Jerry Ward of Cookeville, TN, and David (Darlene) Ward of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Daughter: Tanya Ward and Don of Cookeville, TN; 1 Grandson: Brandon (Sarah) Ward of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Great Granddaughter: Paisleigh Ward of Gainesboro, TN; and 1 Brother: W.M. (Ruby) Ward of Owens Crossroad, AL. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. Edwin Sadler and Bro. Jimmy Anderson will officiate at the services. The Jackson County Rescue Squad will serve as active and honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Jackson County Rescue Squad by contacting the funeral home.
