James "Tommy" Pruett

Memorial services for Mr. James Thomas "Tommy" Pruett, 61, of the New Salem community of Jackson County, Tennessee, will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Interment will follow at a later time in the New Salem Cemetery in the New Salem community. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 3 P.M. - 9 P.M., and on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until time of services. He passed away on Monday, November 8, 2010, at Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville, TN. He was born September 19, 1949, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Burt L. "Posey" Pruett, Jr. and Margaret Anderson Pruett. On August 4, 1972, he was married to Betty Brown Pruett, who survives. He was retired, and the former owner of Pruett Construction and Paving. He was a member of the McCoinsville Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandparents: Clyde Anderson and Grace Anderson Spurlock; Maternal Step-Grandfather: Jim Ray Spurlock; and his Paternal Grandparents: Burt L. Pruett, Sr. and Vina Pruett. Survivors include his Wife: Betty Brown Pruett of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Daughter: Dawn Pruett (Kris) Ray of Nashville, TN; 2 Grandchildren: Maggie Sophie Pruett-Ray and Valen Thomas Pruett-Ray; 1 Sister: Nancy Pruett of Gainesboro, TN; 3 Nieces: Jessie Pruett Rucker of Alexandria, TN, Melissa Brown of LaVergne, TN, and Angie Brown of Old Hickory, TN; 2 Aunts: Sue Jones and Patsy Pruett, both of Gainesboro, TN; and 1 Uncle: Donny Ray Spurlock of Baxter, TN. Other relatives and many friends also survive. Bro. Jimmy Anderson will officiate at the services. Memorial donations may be made to the New Salem Cemetery by contacting the funeral home.
