Funeral services for Mr. James Luke Smith, 82, of the Burristown community of Jackson County, Tennessee, will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Sunday, July 30, at Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Lynn Cemetery in the Burristown community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4 P.M. - 9 P.M. and Sunday from noon until time of services at Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Mr. Smith passed away on Friday, July 28, 2006, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tennessee. He was born August 20, 1923, in Jackson County to the late Charlie Benton Smith and Clio Anderson Smith. On March 19, 1947, he was married to Nadean Smith, who survives. Mr. Smith was a farmer, factory worker, and former employee of the Jackson County Hwy. Dept. He was a member of the Poston's Chapel Community Church in the Burristown community of Jackson County, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Brother: Hobert Smith; and 1 Sister: Effie Smith. Survivors include his wife: Nadean Smith of the Burristown community of Jackson County; 2 Daughters and Sons-in- Law: Reita & Jerry White of the Dodson Branch community of Jackson Co., and Brenda & Bobby Scantland of Gainesboro, TN; 3 Grandchildren: Christy Kowalski of Cookeville, TN; Jeff and Marty Scantland both of Gainesboro, TN; 3 Great- Grandchildren: Jacob Scantland, Jaryn Scantland, and Peyton Kowalski; and 1 Sister: Lucille Smith of Cookeville, TN. Bro. Phillip Morgan and Bro. Mike Ayers will officiate at the services.
