James "Jim" Scantland

Funeral services for Mr. James "Jim" Scantland, 71, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, October 13, at Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Lynn Cemetery in the Burristown community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1 P.M. - 10 P.M., and Thursday from 10 A.M. until time of services at Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Mr. Scantland passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2005, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN. He was born September 26, 1934, in Jackson County, Tennessee, to the late William Scantland and Ora Hix Scantland. On January 25, 1958, he was married to Betty Hix Scantland, who survives. Mr. Scantland was disabled and worked for the Jackson County Highway Department. He was affiliated with the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents: William Scantland and Ora Hix Scantland; 2 Brothers and 2 Sisters- in-Law: Lawton and Geraldine Scantland, Willene Scantland, and Eston B. Scantland; and 2 Brothers-in-Law: Donnie W. Hix and Thomas Stewart. Survivors include His wife: Betty Hix Scantland of Gainesboro, TN; 2 Sons and Daughters-in-Law: Randy & Jennifer Scantland, and Tony & Toni Scantland, all of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Daughter and Son-in-Law: Carol & Richard Dawes of Cookeville, TN; 6 Grandchildren: Chris Dawes, Tyler Scantland, Nicolas Scantland, Jordan Scantland, Hope Scantland, and Leah Scantland; 3 Brothers and 3 Sisters-in- Law: Elbert & Idell Scantland, Lando Scantland, and Joe & Edna Scantland, all of Gainesboro, TN, and Anna Scantland of Cookeville, TN; 5 Sisters and 3 Brothers-in-Law: Louise & Gene Barlow, Martha & Earl Flynn, Dorothy Stewart, and Betty Hix, all of Gainesboro, TN, and Ina & Charlie Poston of Livingston, TN.
