James "Early" Smith

Funeral services for Mr. James "Early" Smith, 95, of Gainesboro, TN, will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, March 15, 2010, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5 P.M. - 9 P. M., and Monday from 9 A.M. until time of services. He passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Mabry Health Care Center in Gainesboro, TN. He was born September 15, 1914, in Jackson County, TN, to the late J. Barlow Smith and Ida Brown Smith. He was married to the late Viva Nell Smith, who passed away April 27, 1999. He was a former maintenance worker at the Jackson County Board of Education, and a member of the Haydenburg Presbyterian Church. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 4 Brothers and 2 Sisters. Survivors include 1 Son: Robert E. (Shirley) Smith of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Daughter: Virginia (Tom) Marsh of Sevierville, TN; 2 Grandchildren: Jason (Pat) Smith and Brandy (Dennis) Berta, all of Gainesboro, TN; and 4 Great- Grandchildren: Allyson Berta, Kelsey Smith, Emily Berta, and Peyton Smith.
