Masonic Services for Mr. James E. Smith, 88, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, will be conducted on Sunday, May 31, 2015, at 5 P.M. at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. The family has chosen cremation, with interment at a later date at the Smith Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 P.M. until time of services. He was born March 2, 1927, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Herman and Josie Hall Smith. He was a full time land trader, a member of the White's Bend Church of Christ, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Tannehill Lodge #133 F&AM. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Son: Jack L. Smith; and 1 Daughter: Kathy Smith. Survivors include 1 Son: Fred W. (Angelia) Smith of Cookeville, TN; 1 Daughter: Kaye Smith-Mathis of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Daughter-in-law: Karen Smith of Gainesboro, TN; 5 Grandchildren: Jamie Smith, Jacquie Flynn, Beau Smith, Jessica Williams, and Ashton Smith; 7 Great-Grandchildren: Corey Flynn, McKenzie Flynn, Alexxis Flynn, Bella Smith, Joshua Smith, Josie Kate Williams, and Maya Isabelle Williams; Special Friends: Spencer and Pat Farley of Pleasant Shade, TN; and 1 Aunt: Geneva Braswell of Gainesboro, TN. Bro. Truman Sterns will officiate at the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Charlie Norton Christmas Fund by contacting the business office of the funeral home.
