James "Bubba" Hampton

James "Bubba" Edward Hampton, Sr. was born May 8,. 1941 in Nashville, TN and he passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Bethesda Health Care Center in Cookeville at the age of 83.

James was the son of Martin Van Hampton and Beulah Rebecca Perry Hampton.  He retired from Dacco Corp. in Cookeville.

He was preceded in death by parents, wife, Betty Neal Martin Hampton; 3 step grandchildren, brother, Leon Morris Hampton and sister, Clara Ann Blackwell.

Survived by his sons, Leon (Freeda) Hampton of Granville; Martin Hampton and James (Kelly) Hampton, Jr. both of Nashville and Ray (Billie) Hampton of Goodlettsville; step-son, Robert (Christina) Wesley Martin III of Cookeville; daughters, Kim (Brian) Holding of Murfreesboro and Millicent (Robert) McQuiston of Granville; step-daughters, Dottie Brewer of Arrington, TN , Diane Shaw of Antioch, TN and Sherrie Cunningham of Hermitage; sisters, Melissa Hampton of Castalian Springs and Dorothy Jenkins of Smyrna; 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren along with other relatives and friends also survive.

Visitation will be on Monday, September 30, 2024, 4-8 pm and Tuesday 10 am to 1 pm.  Funeral services will be at 1 pm on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 in the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Warren officiating.  Burial will follow in Granville Cemetery.
