Age 75

Jackie Lee "Hooks" Ellis was born on January 5, 1950 in Gibson Hollow community of Jackson County and he passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at his resident in Whitleyville at the age of 75.


Hooks was the son of Cecil Clay Ellis and Geraldine Minchey Ellis.  He was drafted in the United States Army, training at Fort Lewis, WA and annual training in St. Louis, Missouri and one year in Republic Vietnam.  He received The Army Commendation Medial.  Specialist Five Jackie L. Ellis United States Army. Meritorious Service in the Republic of Vietnam during the period April 14, 1970 to September 1,1971. Certificate of Appreciation for service in the Armed Forces of the Untied States, Jackie Lee Ellis SP5 US Army September 9, 1969 - September 2, 1971 SPS USA 542nd Engr Dept, 96204.  He worked in construction and his hobbies were hunting, fishing, and cookouts with family and friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents, son Gregory Lee Ellis, brother, Jimmy M. Ellis, brother in law, Ray Pryor and mother in law, Margaret Imogene Robinson Brazle.


Jackie was married to Gail Brazle on 8/3/1973 for over 51 years of marriage.


Survivors include his wife, Gail Brazle Ellis of Whitleyville; daughter, Tina Gail Ellis of Gainesboro; granddaughter, Olivia Gail Lindsey of Gainesboro; grandson, Hunter (Kaiden Allen) Ellis of Whitleyville; sister, Jerri Pryor of Cookeville; sister in laws, Anna Jean Ellis, Debbie (Bruce) Skimmyhorn, Vickey Brazle; brothers in law, Earl (Pam) Brazle Jr.,  Rickey Brazle, and Garry (Sandra) Brazle; father in law, Earl (Patricia) Brazle; aunt, Willie Mae (Bill) Reeves and aunt Carolyn McCormick; special cousin and nephew, Tony McCormick and Daniel Cummings; special close friends, James, Shelia and Zelda Hines.  In addition he is survived by a hosts of wonderful family and friends.


Visitation will be on Monday, June 2, 2025 from 12 noon to 2 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home.  Memorial services will be conducted at 2 pm on Monday, June 2, 2025 at 2 pm in the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with brother in law, Earl Brazle, Jr. officiating.
