Jack Lloyd Carwile

Age 80
Jack Lloyd Carwile was born in Dayton, Ohio April 11th, 1942 and passed away at his home in Gainesboro, after a five-year battle with colon cancer, on December 30th, 2022. He was the first born child of the late Lloyd and Lillie (Smith) Carwile of Gainesboro.
Jack moved to Tennessee after graduating Fairmont High School in Dayton, OH, and has resided in Gainesboro since. He was very active in his community; he was a Mason and Shriner, he founded the Jackson County Rescue Squad, served as President of the Civitan Club as well as the Jackson County PTA in the 70’s. He was an avid fisherman, member of the Small Mouth Bass Club, and general outdoorsman.
Jack started and owner Carwile Enterprises, Inc. and achieved the rare “Unlimited Contractor’s License” in the state of TN. He was a commercial contractor who built several Osh KoshB’gosh factories, the local Maybry Nursing Home, the local health department, to name a few.
Mr. Carwile was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Judy Carwile Smith, and his youngest daughter, Ginger Carwile. He was also preceded in death by his long-time fishing buddy, Freddie Denson.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Brenda Burris Carwile (June 9th, 1962); one brother, Jerry Carwile of Gainesboro; two daughters Donna (Jeff) Lee of Cookeville and Tammy (Lance) Campbell of Panama City, Florida; seven grandsons, Tyler (Liz) York of Winston-Salem, NC, Austin York, Bronson York, and Connor York, all of Cookeville, Grayson Campbell of Williamsburg, VA, Riley Campbell and Colin Campbell, both of Fargo, ND; two great grandchildren, Layke Lynn York and Oliver York, both of Cookeville, TN.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 1, 2023, at 2 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in Gainesboro, TN. Visitation will be Sunday from 12 Noon until time of services.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and/or Happy Haven Home for Children.
