Izell Strong Norton

Funeral services for Mrs. Izell Strong Norton, 92, of Gainesboro, TN, will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Lynn Cemetery in the Burristown community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Friday from 3 P.M. - 8 P.M., and Saturday from 9 A.M. until time of services. She passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at Livingston Regional Hospital in Livingston, TN. She was born March 26, 1922, in Jackson County, TN, to the late William "Bill" Strong and Maggie Rhoten Strong. On October 26, 1941, she was married to the late Charlie Cowan Norton, who passed away May 22, 2001. She was the owner and operator of Izell's Beauty Shop in Gainesboro, TN. She was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Grandson: Tom Norton; 1 Great Grandson: Trent Norton; 5 Brothers: Lester, Herman, Comer, Homer, and Andrew Strong; and 2 Sisters: Irene Sweeny and Ivory Sousa. Survivors include 2 Sons: Richard Norton of Cookeville, TN, and Gary and wife, Jo Norton of Gainesboro, TN; 3 Grandchildren: Glenn (Kathy) Norton of Lebanon, TN, Laura Young of Cookeville, TN, and Gail Norton of Cookeville, TN; and 8 Great Grandchildren: Kevin Young, Carter Young, Greg Norton, Nick Norton, Taylor Norton, Kimberly Norton, Justin Sliger, and Meghan Sliger. Bro. Jimmy Anderson and Bro. Johnny Fox will officiate at the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Charlie Norton Christmas Fund, Shriners Children's Hospital, or the donor's favorite charity by contacting the funeral home.
