Carrie Irene West Nelson age 80 , passed away peacefully on October 13th 2024 surrounded by her family.
Irene was born on 10/16/1943 in Dodson Branch, TN to Dan & Mary Louvella Allen. Irene was a hard worker her whole life, and working is what she loved, she always made lead or supervisor at every job she had. She retired from the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a long time resident of the roaring river community, where she raised her two kids and grandkids.
She was a charter member of the Dodson Branch Baptist Church and also a former member of 1st Baptist Church of Gainesboro. Irene was a woman of God, and her legacy will live on forever.
Irene is survived by her husband Charles Nelson, son Randall (Pamella) West, daughter Tonya (John) Ferraro, 3 grandchildren Sydney (Mathieu) West, Shelby (Noah) Caldwell, and Colby Dale Alexander. 3 sister in laws Nola and Juanita Allen, and Barbara West -1 brother in law Allen D Loftis. Followed by many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Proceeded in Death by; late husband Ray D West, father-James Dan Allen, mother Mary Louella, 3 Sisters: Myrtle Ruth Allen, Betty (JB) Gaw, and Almedia Loftis. 5 Brothers; Paul Martin Allen, David Allen, Billy Moore Allen, Eugene Allen, and Fred Allen.
Irene will always be remembered for the love she had for her family and friends, and how she always went above and beyond for all them. She always loved cutting up and going on with people followed by a wink.
She was so loved and will be missed by so many.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, from 2 pm to 8 pm and again on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from 10 am to 2 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, in the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson, Bro. David Sharp, Carl Wheeler, and Mike Farris officiating. Burial will follow in Dodson Branch Cemetery.
