H.S. Brown

Funeral services for Brother H.S. Brown, 86, of Cookeville, TN, will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Cookeville, TN. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4 P.M. - 9 P.M., and Wednesday from 10 A.M. until time of services. He passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016, at NHC Healthcare of Cookeville. He was born February 11, 1930, in Overton County, TN, to the late Charlie Benton Brown and Lula Ayers Brown. On December 25, 1953, he was married to the late Lucille Pryor Brown, who passed away December 14, 2010. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, earning the rank of Corporal and serving as an assistant chaplain. Brother Brown was a minister. Brother Brown loved the Lord; he had a genuine compassion for people and made himself available as a servant to many families in their time of need. H.S. began his 50 plus years in the Ministry as an Evangelist holding tent and brush arbor meetings in the Upper Cumberland area in the 1950's. H.S. was a former Minister of the Burristown Assembly of God and the New Hope Community Church, both in Jackson County, after which he continued to preach and serve until his health prevented him to do so. He attended Trinity Assembly of God in Algood, Tennessee. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 6 Sisters: Grace Nevins, Lois West, Clarice Tomlinson, Essie Hodges, Eunice Sullivan, and Ava Brown; and 1 Brother: Grady Brown. Survivors include 1 Daughter: Jeanette (Randy) Hansel of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Granddaughter: Rebecca Hansel of Nashville, TN; and Special Friends: Gary and Ann Barker.
