Hooper Jones

Funeral services for Mr. Ben Hooper Jones, 91, of the Flynns Lick community of Jackson County, Tennessee, will be held at 1 P.M. on Wednesday, April 20, at Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 - 9 P.M., Tuesday from 10 A.M. - 9 P.M. and Wednesday from 10 A.M. until time of services at Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Mr. Jones passed away on Monday, April 18, 2005, at his residence. He was born September 9, 1913, in Jackson County to the late Herman and Para Lee Allen Jones. On January 31, 1932, he was married to Anna Ruth Brown Jones, who passed away on February 2, 1989. Mr. Jones was a farmer and former custodian at Fox Middle School. He was a member of the Flynns Creek Church of Christ, where he served as an elder and song leader for over 40 years. He was preceded in death by his wife: Anna Ruth Brown Jones; his parents: Herman and Para Lee Allen Jones; 4 Sons: Infant Son, Houston Jones, Charles Edward Jones, and Kelley Jones; 1 Daughter: Maudine Gore; 1 Grandchild: Angela Jones; 3 Brothers: Lewis, John, and Mack Jones; 2 Sisters: Sally Eudell Godsey and Alsie Carter; and 1 Son-in- Law: Baugh Dennis. Survivors include 3 Sons and 5 Daughters-in-Law: Troy and Ruth Jones, Hubert and Mary Nell Jones, Larry and Katherine Jones, Rosa Jones Gore, and Dorothy Jones, all of Gainesboro; 2 Daughters and 1 Son-in-Law: Mildred Dennis of Gainesboro, and Pauline and Lillard Holland of Pleasant Shade, TN; and 1 Brother: Charlie Jones of Signal Mountain, TN. 17 Grandchildren, 24 Great-Grandchildren, and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren also survive. Bro. Paul Fox and Bro. Jimmy Anderson will officiate at the services. Memorial donations may be made to Lazarus House Hospice by contacting Upper Cumberland Funeral Home.
