Funeral services for Mr. Homer Mahaney, 90, of Morristown, TN, will be held at 3 P.M. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Mahaney Family Cemetery on Hopkins Hollow Road in Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4 to 8 P.M. and on Tuesday from 1 P.M. until time of services. He passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Physicians Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. He was born January 6, 1927, in Jackson County, TN, to the late James William "Jim" Mahaney and Martha Elizabeth Mahaney. He was a factory worker in the automotive industry. He was a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed watching football. He served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. He was a member of the Jefferson City Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Son: Jimmy Mahaney; 5 Brothers: Jim Edd, John D., George "Buddy", Lester B., and Ernest Mahaney and 1 Sister: Willie Mae Mabry. Survivors include 1 Son: Jack Mahaney of Russellville, TN; 1 Daughter: Elizabeth (John) Surber of Russellville, TN; 1 Granddaughter: Brandee Surber of North Carolina; 1 Brother: Kenneth "Jack" (Sue) Mahaney of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Sister: Mildred Allen of Gainesboro, TN; and 1 Sister-in-law: Helen Mahaney of Gainesboro, TN. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Bro. Jimmy Anderson will officiate at the services.
