Herman Thompson

Funeral services for Mr. Herman Thompson, 79, of Cookeville, TN, will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, February 13, 2010, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the John Young Cemetery in the Shiloh community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5 P.M. - 9 P. M., and Saturday from 10 A.M. until time of services. He passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2010, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN. He was born May 13, 1930, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Farmer Thompson and Vada Goolsby Garrison. On March 7, 1950, he was married to Lorene Hammock Thompson, who survives. He did maintenance work for Cookeville Industries, and was a member of the Liberty Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Daughter: Claudine Thompson; 1 Son: Jeffrey Thompson; and 1 Brother: Gerstle Garrison. Survivors include his Wife: Lorene Hammock Thompson of Cookeville, TN; 2 Daughters: Maxine (Doug) Stewart and Cathy (Raymond) Hensley, both of Cookeville, TN; 3 Grandchildren: Shirley (Tim) Holloway, Shawn (Nella) Hensley, and Sheena (Sean) Campbell; 6 Great-Grandchildren: Katie, Rebekah, Erin, & Caleb Hensley; and Mark & Luke Holloway; 1 Brother: James Willard Thompson of MI; 1 Sister: Mary Eberhardt of FL; 2 Half-Brothers: Robert Lee Thompson and Jerry Thompson; 1 Half-Sister: Barbara Fleming; and Special Friends: Anita and Chad Underwood.
