Glenous B. Ballard

Funeral services for Mr. Glenous B. Ballard, 89, of Cookeville, Tennessee, will be held at 1 P.M. on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Mansell Cemetery in the Freewill Community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Monday from 3 P.M. - 9 P. M., and Tuesday from 9 A.M. until time of services. He passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2013, at NHC Health Care Center in Cookeville, TN. He was born March 17, 1924, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Layton Ballard and Ova D. Ballard. He was married to the late Rettie Mansell Ballard, who passed away February 13, 2003. He was a carpenter, and a member of the Freewill Church of Christ. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 2 Grandsons: Randy Ballard and Wayne Thompson; 10 Brothers: Joe, Fred, Burt, Mitchell, Hollis, Encil, Cecil, Jack, Johnny, and Charlie Ballard; and 3 Sisters: Zora Ballard, Jane Anderson, and Willie Ballard. Survivors include 1 Son: Richard (Patsy) Ballard of Cookeville, TN; 4 Daughters: Norma (Kenner) Hawkins, and Paulette (Charles) Clinton, all of Cookeville, TN; Debbie Chaffin of Baxter, TN; and Anita Rhoten of Celina, TN; 1 Sister: Marie (Billy) Martin of Gainesboro, TN; 9 Grandchildren; and 15 Great Grandchildren, including Matthew Henley, whom he raised. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. Bro. Alan Judd and Bro. Jimmy Anderson will officiate at the services.
