Funeral services for Mr. Gilbert McCawley Berry 85, of Gainesboro, TN, will be held at 3 P.M. on Sunday, May 8, 2016, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M., on Saturday from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. and on Sunday from 2 P.M. until time of services. A Masonic service will be conducted on Saturday at 7 :30 P.M. in the chapel of the funeral home. He passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN. He was the son of the late Hugh J. and Leola McCawley Berry. On September 15, 1953, he was married to Betty Whitson Berry, who survives. He was a farmer, worked for Sutton-Anderson Funeral Home and then worked and retired as the Sr. Vice-President and Director of Jackson County Bank. He was a member of the Gainesboro Rotary Club; a member of the Jackson County Industrial Board; also a member of the Jackson County Lions Club; he served on the board of directors for the Jackson County Soil Conservation District, and was a director of Jackson Bank & Trust. He also served and participated in many other clubs and organizations through the years. He was a member of the Gainesboro First United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Tannehill Lodge 133 of the Free and Accepted Masons and was an Al Menah Shriner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Infant Brother. Survivors include his Wife: Betty Whitson Berry of Gainesboro, TN and 1 Sister: Betty Ruth Bates of Columbia, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Rev. Caroline Sanders and Rev. Russell Cain will officiate at the services. Personal remembrances will also be offered by Jim Birdwell, Drue Huffines, and Bill Mitchell.
