Georgia L. Matney

Funeral services for Mrs. Georgia L. Matney, 76, of Knoxville, Tennessee, will be held at 3 P.M. on Friday, May 4, 2012, at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 P.M. - 9 P. M. and Friday from 12 Noon until time of services. She passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at NHC Health Care in Oak Ridge, TN. She was born July 9, 1935, in Gainesboro, TN, to the late John Hix and Estelle McCoin Hix. She was married to the late Ermine Matney. She worked in the nursery at the Jackson County Hospital. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Son: Randy Christopher Matney; 2 Brothers: Lewis Hix and Harold Hix; and 3 Sisters: Mary Smith, Dorothy Jones, and an infant sister, Thelma Frances Hix. Survivors include 1 Son: David and Vickie Matney of Knoxville, TN; 1 Daughter: Sherrie and Sonny Wilhite of Columbus, Indiana; 1 Brother: John Hix of Pleasant View, TN; and 2 Sisters: Edith Brewington of Lebanon, TN, and Paulette Warner of Castalian Springs, TN. 5 Grandchildren and 9 Great-grandchildren also survive.
