Frances E. Smith

Funeral services for Frances E. Smith, 88, of Cookeville, TN, will be held at 2 P.M. on Monday, February 27, 2017, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Smyrna Cemetery in Cookeville, TN. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 P.M. to 5 P.M., and on Monday from 10 A.M. until time of services. She passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017, at Bethesda Health Care Center in Cookeville, TN. She was born December 26, 1928, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Horace E. Hammonds and Auda Hammonds. On February 28, 1947, she was married to the late Demas Smith, who passed away December 2, 1983. She worked as a seamstress and in housekeeping at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a member of the Zion Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Infant Son: Dennis Smith; 1 Grandchild: Sadie Smith; 2 Brothers: Demas and Truman Hammonds; and 1 Daughter-in-Law: Brenda Lee Smith. Survivors include 3 Sons: Michael Demas (Sandra) Smith of Tucson, AZ, James Russell Smith of Cookeville, TN, and friend, Sharron Smith, and David Earl Smith of McMinnville, TN, and friend, Deanda Wilkey; 2 Daughters: Linda Jane (Johnny) Hammock of Cookeville, TN, and Diana (Patrick) Fields of Cookeville, TN; 2 Brothers: Howard (Vivian) Hammonds of Elizabethton, TN, and Herman (Debbie) Hammonds of La Porte, IN; 9 Grandchildren; and 16 Great Grandchildren. James Russell Smith and Jimmy Anderson will officiate at the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Happy Haven Home for Children or the donor's favorite charity by contacting the funeral home.
