Ethel Rhoten Stewart

Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Rhoten Stewart, 86, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, will be held at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11 A.M. - 8 P. M., and on Wednesday from 11 A.M. until time of services. She passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2010, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN. She was born December 26, 1923, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Clay Rhoten and Ova West Rhoten. On August 10, 1940, she was married to the late Jonah Raggio Stewart, who passed away on September 26, 2006. She was a nurse's aide at Jackson County Hospital, and a member of the Dudney's Hill Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Grandson: David Scott Stoup; 1 Granddaughter: Linda Gay Clark; 1 Great-Grandson: Randy Eli Kohara; 2 Brothers: Ray Rhoten and Hollis Rhoten; and 2 Sisters: Rose Heady and Christine Rhoten. Survivors include 3 Daughters: Barbara Stewart of Gainesboro, TN, Jean Brieter of Michigan, and Shirley Clark of Michigan; 1 Brother: Herbert Rhoten of Cookeville, TN; 2 Sisters: Edith Bennett and Robbie Stewart, both of Gainesboro, TN; 9 Grandchildren, 39 Great-Grandchildren, and 21 Great-Great Grandchildren.
