Eston Scantland

Funeral services for Mr. Eston Scantland, 79, of Cookeville, Tennessee, will be held at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, July 6, at Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Lynn Cemetery in the Burristown community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 - 9 P.M., and Wednesday from 11 A.M. until time of services at Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Mr. Scantland passed away on Monday, July 4, 2005, at NHC Healthcare of Cookeville, TN. He was born May 23, 1926, in Jackson County, TN, to the late William & Ora Hix Scantland. On November 22, 1950, he was married to Anna Carlile Scantland, who survives. Mr. Scantland was a factory employee for General Motors. He was of the Baptist faith, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Son: James Elton Scantland; 1 Brother & 2 Sisters-in-Law: Lawton & Geraldine Scantland, Willene Scantland; his Father-in-Law and Mother-in-Law: Oliver & Prillie Carlile; and 2 Brothers-in- Law: Donnie W. Hix and Thomas Stewart. Survivors include His wife: Anna Carlile Scantland of Cookeville, TN;1 Son: Stephen Scantland of Cookeville, TN; 1 Daughter: Karen Scantland of Cookeville, TN; 4 Brothers and 3 Sisters-in-Law: Elbert & Idell Scantland, Lando Scantland, Jim & Betty Scantland, and Joe & Edna Scantland, all of Gainesboro, TN; 5 Sisters and 3 Brothers-in-Law: Louise & Gene Barlow, Martha & Earl Flynn, Dorothy Stewart, and Betty Hix, all of Gainesboro, TN; and Ina & Charlie Poston of Livingston, TN.
