Ernest Julius Gillihan

On August 23, 2016, Ernie, "Big E" as he was known,with his family by his side passed at the home of his daughter, Carrie Bush, in Boca Raton, Florida after a long battle with Cancer. Ernie was born on June 29, 1965. He was born and lived in the Nashville, Tennessee area. He went to Goodlettsville High School. Ernie moved to Pleasant Shade / Gainesboro, Tennessee in 1997 to farm with his wife and children. He worked for Pinkerton until 1999, when he was hired to work in corrections at the Jackson County Sheriff's Department. He served under Sheriff Wayne Mahaney, Sheriff Kenneth Bean, Sheriff Charlie Collier, and Sheriff Brad Stafford, when he took FMLA because of his illness. He is survived by his wife: Deborah Lynn Gillihan; daughters: Carrie Renee Bush and Isabella Marie Gillihan; sons: Raymond Thomas Rader, Christopher Adam Gillihan, Randy Travis Bassham, and Jason Aaron Gillihan; 7 granddaughters: Destiny Renea Gillihan, Jaylynn Harley Gillihan, Mc Kenna Jamie Gillihan, Kayleigh Nicole Gillihan, Keanna Jade Gillihan, Lilli- Mail Danielle Bush, Tyra Leann Bassham; mother: Linda Fay Aldridge Gillihan; sisters: Tammy Gillihan Lewallen, Rhonda Gillihan Young Hall, and Angel Gillihan; and brothers: Terry Gillihan, Timothy Gillihan, and Mickey McLeod. He was preceded in death by his father: Ernest Julius Gillihan Sr. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, September 11, 2016, at 3 P.M. Visitation will be from 1 P.M. until time of services at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN.
