Emogene Flatt Birdwell

Emogene Flatt Birdwell was born September 8, 1928, in Jackson County, TN and she passed away on Friday, December 23, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center at the age of 94.

She was the daughter of the late Haskell Flatt and Beulah Edith Lambert Flatt. On February 26, 1948, she was married to the late Lenith Earl Birdwell, who passed away September 30, 1951. She was a factory worker at Stillman, and a member of the Double Springs Church of Christ.

She was an Atlanta Braves fan for many years, and an avid gardener. She enjoyed quilting, bowling, and travel, and was a member of the Double Springs Church of Christ Quilting Ladies.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Birdwell was preceded in death by her Brother: Kenneth Flatt; Nephew: Jimmy Flatt; and Brother-in-Law: Herman Pippin.

Survivors include her Brother: Harold (Evelyn) Flatt of Baxter, TN; Sisters: Jewell (Bobby) McCaleb of Cookeville, TN, and Joyce Pippin of Bloomington Springs, TN; Nieces: Linda Smith and Judy Delk; Nephews: Garry Flatt, Mike Flatt, Marcus McCaleb, Tim Pippin, and Terry Pippin; Sister-in-Law: Juanita Flatt of Cookeville, TN; and Caregiver: Debbie Flatt.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 2 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home, with Bro. Mike Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the Sam Flatt Cemetery on Shepardsville Hwy. in Jackson County. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Wednesday from 12 Noon until time of services.

Memorial donations may be made to the Sam Flatt Cemetery by contacting the funeral home.

Great nephews will serve as pallbearers.
