Funeral services for Mrs. Elise Rhoten Garland, age 89, a resident of Gainesboro, TN, will be held Sunday, June 22, 2008, at 2 P.M. at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 3 P.M. - 7 P.M., and on Sunday from Noon until time of services. Mrs. Garland passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2008, at Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville, TN. She was born January 6, 1919, in Jackson County, TN, to the late James Frank and Clara Johnson Rhoten. On December 17, 1938, she was married to the late Lincoln Garland, who passed away June 15, 1999. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Stone Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by 1 Son: Gary Gray Garland. Survivors include 2 Sons and 1 Daughter-in-Law: James Garland of Shelbyville, TN and Clark David & Toni Garland of Maryville, TN; 8 Grandchildren: Denise Ostrowe, Tina Rippy, James Garland, Jr., Aimee Fair, Courtney Garland, Jennifer Shah, Lindsey Henley, & Jason Garland; 16 Great Grandchildren; Former Daughter-in-law: Sandra Martin of Gainesboro, TN; and 1 Sister: Hallie Weaver of Nashville, TN.
