Funeral services for Mr. Elbert C. Scantland, 81, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, will be held at 2 P.M. on Sunday, January 27, 2008, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Lynn Cemetery in the Burristown community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 P.M. - 9 P.M., Saturday from 12 Noon - 9 P.M., and Sunday from 12 Noon until time of services Mr. Scantland passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2008, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN. He was born May 23, 1926, in Jackson County, Tennessee, to the late William and Ora Hix Scantland. He was married to Idell Barlow Scantland, who survives. He worked in the logging industry, and was a member of the Poston's Chapel Community Church where he served as Pastor for 42 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Son: Terry Scantland; 3 Brothers and 2 Sisters-in-Law: Lawton & Geraldine Scantland, Willene Scantland, Eston B. Scantland, and James "Jim" Scantland; and 2 Brothers-in- Law: Donnie Hix and Thomas Stewart. Survivors include his wife: Idell Barlow Scantland of Gainesboro, TN; 2 Sons: Bobby (Brenda) Scantland, and Billy (Debbie) Scantland, all of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Daughter: Janice (Robert) Chaffin of Gainesboro, TN; 6 Grandchildren: Melissa Law, Stephanie Reecer, Chris Flatt, Shaun Scantland, Jeff Scantland, and Marty Scantland; 2 Brothers and 3 Sisters-in- Law: Lando Scantland, Joe (Edna) Scantland, and Betty Scantland, all of Gainesboro, TN; and Anna Scantland of Cookeville, TN; 5 Sisters and 3 Brothers-in-Law: Louise (Gene) Barlow, Martha (Earl) Flynn, Dorothy Stewart, and Betty Hix, all of Gainesboro, TN; and Ina (Charlie) Poston of Livingston, TN; and 10 Great-Grandchildren.
