Edith Rhoten Bennett

Funeral services for Mrs. Edith Rhoten Bennett, 90, of Whitleyville, TN, will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1 P.M. - 8 P.M., and Saturday from 9 A.M. until time of services. She passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at Cumberland River Hospital in Celina, TN. She was born December 19, 1928, in Gainesboro, TN, to the late Henry Clay Rhoten and Ova West Rhoten. On July 8, 1944, she was married to the late Kirk Bennett, who passed away January 8, 1975. She was a bus driver for the Jackson County School System, a factory worker, and housewife. She was a member of the Richmond Chapel Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 3 Brothers: Hollis, Ray, and Herbert Rhoten; 4 Sisters: Christine Rhoten, Ethel Stewart, Rosa Lee Heady, and Robbie Sue Stewart; and 3 Sons-in-law: Ottis Millsaps, N.J. Mason, Jr., and Richard Stafford. Survivors include 5 Daughters: Sue Mason and Wanda Stafford, both of Cookeville, TN, Linda Millsaps of Whitleyville, TN, Fran (Walter) Davis of Gainesboro, TN, and Jo Helen (Litton) Birdwell of Bloomington Springs, TN; 1 Bonus Daughter: Bonnie Warden Albea of Cookeville, TN; 10 Grandchildren: Susan Greene of Nashville, TN, Scotty Birdwell of Gainesboro, TN, Steven Bennett of Jamestown, TN, Tracy Sandlin of Bloomington Springs, TN, Tracey Millsaps and Sharon Scott, both of Cookeville, TN, Kay Kirby, Sharon Loftis, Kenny Davis, and Chasity Hix, all of Gainesboro, TN; 23 Great Grandchildren; and 8 Great Great Grandchildren. Bro. Ronald Strong and Bro. Dennis Smith will officiate at the services.
