Edis J. Head was born October 25, 1932 in Jackson County, TN and he passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at NHC Healthcare in Cookeville, TN at the age of 88. Mr. Edis was the son of Quarles Head and Mae Spivey Head. He was a retired employee of the Town of Gainesboro having worked in both the water and sewer departments. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Head was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bonnie Smallwood Head, brothers, Curtis and Dwane Head and sisters, Ruby Trisdale and Louise Spivey. Survivors include two daughters, Delma (Edwin) Hopkins of Gainesboro and Cathy Flatt of Cookeville; two brothers Joe (Beatrice) Head and Willard Head both of Gainesboro; sister, Judy (Joe) McDowell of Granville, two sisters-on-law, Frances Head and Faye Head both of Gainesboro; four grandchildren, Jason Flatt, Lyndsey Flatt, Ryan Hopkins and Chanse (Kaylia) Hopkins, one great-grandchild, Kambree Hopkins, other relatives and many friends also survive. Visitation will be on Monday, September 6, 2021, 10 am to 1 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Sept. 6, 2021 at 1 pm in the Chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with burial to follow in John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery. Bro.
