Dr. Edward Brown,

Funeral services for Dr. James Edward Brown, Sr., 72, of Douglasville, Georgia, will be held at 2 P.M. on Sunday, June 7, 2009, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Granville Cemetery in Granville, TN. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 12 Noon until time of services. Dr. Brown passed away on June 4, 2009. He was born September 16, 1936, in Gainesboro, TN, to Helen G. Brown and the late Charles E. Brown. He was married to the late Rosie Brown. He was a retired dentist. Dr. Brown was a member of the Douglasville Church of Christ. For 25 years, he served as the team physician for the Douglas County High School football team. He was a former diver with the Douglas County Rescue Squad, and a former board member of Cobb Hospital, where he orchestrated the in- house dental program. He was a lifelong member of the Douglasville Gentlemen's Garden Club. He did his pre-med training at Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, TN, and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee Dental School - Class of 1960. In addition to his wife and father, he was preceded in death by 1 Sister: Patsy Bentley. Survivors include his Mother: Helen G. Brown of Gainesboro, TN; 2 Sons: James E. Brown, Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Douglasville, GA, and David Brown and wife, Heidi, of Smyrna, GA; 5 Grandchildren: Jeb Brown, Jake & Tiffany Brown, Tony Brown, Jackson Brown, and Jenna & Brodie Barton; and 1 Great-Grandchild: Addison Elise Brown.
