Funeral services for Mrs. Dottie Carter Allen Chaffin, 97, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, will be held at 2 P.M. on Sunday, August 16, 2009, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5 P.M. - 9 P. M., and Saturday from 5 P.M. - 9 P.M. Mrs. Chaffin passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2009, at her residence. She was born February 29, 1912, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Oliver Lee and Alice Lena Carter. She was a farmer and homemaker. She was a member of the McCoinsville Church of Christ where she taught Bible classes for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husbands: John William Allen and Willie B. Chaffin; 1 Brother: John Morgan Carter; 1 Sister: Jimmie Ragland; 2 Sons: Oliver Kenneth Allen and Billy Gene Allen; 4 Grandsons: Sherrill Carter, William Kenneth Martin, Billy Gene Allen, Jr., and Ross Dean Allen; and 2 Granddaughters: Annette Allen and Tammy Allen Lynch. Survivors include 3 Sons: Bobby Dean (Wava) Allen and Toy (Linda) Allen all of Gainesboro, TN; and Larsen (Velma) Allen of Rickman, TN; 3 Daughters: Violet Martin of Baxter, TN; Betty Flatt of Gainesboro, TN; and Janice (Don) Mitchell of Gainesboro, TN; 24 Grandchildren: O.K. Jr., John William, Mark, Steve, Dwayne, Toy II, Everet Jr., Karey, Catherine, Susan, Joanna, Brenda, Linda, Paulette, Donna, Tina, Pamela, Margaret, Phyllis, Gay, Avo, Lora Lee, Angelia, and Teresa; several Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great- Grandchildren; and 2 Sisters: Ada Jewell Fox of Gainesboro, TN, and Betty Lee Kallich of Fresno, CA. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Bro. Jimmy Anderson will officiate at the services.
