Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Young Allen, 78, of Cookeville, TN, will be held at 8 P.M. on Thursday, August 6, 2015, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Private burial will take place later in the Young Cemetery on Sugartown Ridge in Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 P.M. until time of services. She passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015, at the Bethesda Health Care Center in Cookeville, TN. She was born December 4, 1936, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Bill Clay and Bessie Young. She was married to the late Roger Kenneth Allen. She worked in retail at Big K, Roses, and Leo's Spring Street Market. She was a member of the Willow Avenue Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 3 Brothers: Kenny Young, Rick Young, and Hugh Young. Survivors include 4 Sons: Roger Allen of Cookeville, TN; Mike (Darlene) Allen of Sparta, TN; Tim (Cindy) Allen of Alabama; and Keith Allen; 1 Daughter: Debbie Allen (Danny) Phy of Cookeville, TN; 2 Brothers: Billy Ray Young and Ralph Young, both of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Sister: Wanda Dayton of Spring, TX; 9 Grandchildren: Jessica and James Allen, Jennifer Hammock, Jared Phy, Cody Haley, T. J. Richard, and Eve Allen; and 3 Great-Grandchildren: Maddux and Marlee Hammock and Oliver Allen. Bro. Jimmy Anderson will officiate at the services.
