Dorothy Billingsley

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Kirby Billingsley, 81, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, will be held at 1 P.M. on Wednesday, November 16, at Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 3 - 9 P.M., and on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until time of services at Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Mrs. Billingsley passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2005, at the Mabry Health Care Center in Gainesboro, Tennessee. She was born July 31, 1924, in Sumner County, Tennessee, to the late Daniel Averett Kirby and Eleanor Biggs Kirby. On October 19, 1943, she was married to Rupert N. Billingsley, who survives. Mrs. Billingsley was a retired teacher at Gainesboro Elementary School. She was a member of the Gainesboro Church of Christ, the Jackson County Retired Teachers Association, and the Home Demonstration Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Brother: Maxie Kirby; and 2 Sisters: Essie Nell Maddux and Avanna Crowder. Survivors include her husband: Rupert N. Billingsley of Gainesboro, TN; 2 Sons: Jerry Billingsley of Seabrook, TX, and John Billingsley of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Granddaughter: Krista Billingsley of Gainesboro, TN, currently residing in Pensacola, FL; and 1 Brother: Charlie Odell Kirby of Oak Ridge, TN.
