Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Estelene Hix, 84, of Gainesboro, TN, will be held at 10 A.M. on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 3 P.M. - 8 P.M., and Wednesday from 9 A.M. until time of services. She passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at Mabry Health Care Center in Gainesboro, TN. She was born August 27, 1935, in Jackson County, TN, to the late James Eston Harris and Hettie Mae Harris. On December 20, 1957, she was married to the late Elmer Lee Hix, who passed away September 30, 2018. She was a day care worker, and a member of the Hurricane Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 2 Brothers: Shirley Harris and Mack Harris. Survivors include 1 Son: Gerald (Dessa) Hix of Cookeville, TN; 2 Daughters: Debbie Dixon and Shelia Pharris, both of Gainesboro, TN; 7 Grandchildren: Brandy (Shane) Nixon, Allison (Steve) Martenson, Alana Dixon, Corey Pharris, Anita Dixon, Elijah Hix, and Camille Hix; 2 Great Grandchildren: Abby Nixon and Carter Pharris; and 1 Sister in Law: Freda Harris of Bloomington Springs, TN. Several nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. Bro. James Bybee will officiate at the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Jackson County Band in Blue or the Jackson County Veterans Hall by contacting the funeral home.
