Funeral services for Mr. Donald Wayne "Don" Chaffin, 72, of Cookeville, Tennessee, will be held at 1 P.M. on Friday, January 21, 2011, at the Zion Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the Zion Cemetery in the Zion community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 3 P.M. until 9 P.M., and on Friday at the Zion Church of Christ from 10 A.M. until time of services. He passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at his residence. He was born July 17, 1938, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Lewis E. Chaffin and Lyda Anderson Chaffin. On August 6, 1960 he was married to Judy F. Chaffin, who survives. He was a retired plant superintendent for the U.S. Army Corp. of Engineers. He was the former minister of the Zion and Bagdad Churches of Christ, and former youth minister of the Carthage Church of Christ. He conducted numerous Gospel Meetings in the surrounding counties, and was the co-director of the Jackson/Smith County Youth Camp. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Brother: Davis A. Chaffin; and 1 Sister: Joy Dennis. Survivors include his Wife: Judy F. Chaffin of Cookeville, TN; 1 Son: Jimmy (Charlotte) Chaffin of Franklin, TN; 1 Daughter: Donna (Tracy) Yother of Cookeville, TN; and 5 Grandchildren: Janna Yother, Amelia, Hank, Hudson, and Lexi. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. Special thanks to his Caris Hospice Caregivers. Bro. Johnny Fox, Bro. Jack Honeycutt, and Bro. Edward Anderson will officiate at the services. Memorial donations may be made to the Jackson/Smith County Youth Camp by contacting the funeral home.
