Funeral services for Mr. Dean Mellema, 65, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, will be held at 2 P.M. on Friday, May 11, 2007, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. The family has chosen cremation. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 - 9 P.M., and on Friday from 12 noon until time of services. Mr. Mellema passed away on Monday, May 7, 2007, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN. He was born March 6, 1942, in Roseland, Minnesota, to the late Sam and Edna Mellema. On June 9, 1984, he was married to Ann Mellema, who survives. He was a retired insurance adjuster for State Farm Insurance, and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Brother: Alvin Mellema. Survivors include his wife: Ann Mellema of Gainesboro, TN; 2 Sons: Charles (Barbara) Brown of Gainesboro, TN, and Robert (Remonia) Mellema of Cookeville, TN; 1 Daughter: Lori (Duane "Billy Bob") Rush of Gainesboro, TN; 11 Grandchildren: Justin, Josh, Rachel, Justin, Jacob, Caleb, Dean, Rebecca, A.J., Toney, and Debbie; 2 Brothers: Dale Mellema of Walled Lake, MI, and Earl Mellema of Arden Hills, Minnesota; and 3 Sisters: Gloria Jellum of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Joyce Johnson of Lake Havasu City, AZ, and Betty Ericsson of Penn Valley, CA.
