Funeral services for Mr. David Harold Lackey, 68, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, will be held at 2 P.M. on Sunday, August 12, 2012, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in the Pleasant Hill community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 3 P.M. - 9 P.M., and on Sunday from 10 A.M. until time of services. He passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2012 in Gainesboro, TN. He was born September 18, 1943, in Clay County, TN, to the late Edd and Myrtle Buck Lackey. He was married to Suzanne Lackey, who survives. He was a retired city official; serving the town of Gainesboro as mayor for two terms, as fire chief for twenty plus years, and also serving as a city alderman and county commissioner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 Sisters: Tennie Mae Ballard, Ernestine Tinsley, and Billie Lackey. Survivors include his Wife: Suzanne Lackey of McKenzie, TN; 2 Sons: David Lee Lackey of Cookeville, TN; and Matthew David Lackey of Fitchburg, MA; 3 Daughters: Sharon (Ricky) Phillips of Gainesboro, TN; Sabrina (Bobby) Hamlet of Gainesboro; Jacqueline (Randy) Childers of Port Charlotte, FL; 7 Grandchildren: Jasmine and Issac Hamlet; George Henry, Jr.; Kaitlyn Lackey; Jonathan Vanosdale; Ciara Stafford; and Madison Childers; 1 Brother: Tom (Nancy) Lackey of Gainesboro, TN; and 3 Sisters: Thelma Dean Key, Jo Helen Heady, and Paulette Stafford all of Gainesboro, TN. Matthew Lackey and Bro. Jimmy Anderson will officiate at the services. Memorial donations may be made to the Lackey family by contacting the funeral home.
