Funeral services for Mr. Curtis A. Smith, 69, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, will be held at 3 P.M. on Saturday, February 7, 2009, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Pharris Cemetery in the McCoinsville community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 A.M. until time of services. Mr. Smith passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2009, at Standing Stone Health Care Center in Monterey, TN. He was born September 30, 1939, in Jackson County, TN, to the late James and Nettie Lee Smith. On January 11, 1966, he was married to the late Weltha Faye Smith. He was a retired truck driver. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and was a lifetime member of AMVETS. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Brother-in-Law: Hershal Morris. Survivors include his Very Special Love: Faye Rice of Gainesboro, TN, and her family; 2 Sons: Dennis (Shirley) Smith of Gainesboro, TN, and Daniel Smith of Cookeville, TN; 1 Daughter: Darla (Donny) Pippin of Gainesboro, TN; 4 Grandchildren: Christopher Brown, Laura Brown, Michelle Hamlet, and Melinda Wiley; 2 Great-Grandchilren: Alana Hamlet and Addison Burnette; 3 Brothers: Donald (Sue) Smith and Rodney (Judy) Smith, all of Gainesboro, TN, and Randy Smith of Dayton, OH; and 1 Sister: Brenda Morris of Cookeville, TN. Bro. Jimmy Anderson will officiate at the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Smith family by contacting the funeral home.
