Corben Lee Newberry

Corben Lee Newberry was born August 21, 1933, in Macon County, TN, and he passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Mabry Healthcare and Rehab in Gainesboro, TN, at the age of 90.

He was the son of the late Steven Newberry and Eva Mae Newberry. He was married to Eva Lee Allen Newberry on December 10, 1955. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was stationed at the Corona Naval Hospital where he proudly served as a medic. After returning from the war, he worked as a factory worker. Also, he was a volunteer for the City Fire Department.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Lee Allen Newberry; daughter, Linda Maynard; grandson, Curtis “Dippy” Mayberry; and sister, Annie (Herman) Withem.

Survivors include his Daughters: Wanda (Richard) Scantland, Geneva (Tim) Jackson both of Gainesboro, TN; Brothers; Dee (Keron) Newberry and Clayton Newberry both of Ohio; Sister, Betty (Al) DeLorenzo of Ohio; Grandchildren: Tommy Scantland, Amanda (Paul) Harris, Sherry (James)  Wilkerson, Paul (Jill) Mayberry, Steven Jackson, Joseph (Kari) Jackson, Brandon Jackson, and Dakota Jackson; Great Grandchildren: Brooklyn (Kota) Dean, Breckin Scantland, Rachel Harris, Rebecca Harris, James Harris, Kailyn Phann, Bentley Wilkerson, Clayton Mayberry, Ruth Jackson, Forrest Jackson, and Marci Jackson. He is survived by several great- great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 10 A.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Fox officiating. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Cemetery in Jackson County, TN. Visitation will be Thursday from 1 P.M. - 7 P.M., and Friday from 8 A.M. until time of services.
