Clayton D. Walker

Funeral services for Clayton D. Walker age 81 of Gainesboro, TN will be held Saturday, September 12, 2020 beginning at 1:00 pm from the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN with Bro. Jimmy Anderson and Bro. Matthew Scoggins officiating. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery in Cookeville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, September 12 from 10:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm. Clayton was born Thursday, July 14, 1939 in Putnam County, Tennessee to the late Dudley “Dud” and Bertha (Grasty) Walker. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend to all who knew him. He was a member of McCoinsville Church of Christ, and was there every chance he could. He also loved attending other church meetings in the area. He worked for Double Cola Bottling Company, Royal Crown Cola Bottling Company, and then retired from Coca Cola Bottling Company after many years of service. He was in the Jackson County rescue squad, and was part Owner and Operator of the Fina Mart in Gainesboro. After retirement he worked at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home where he loved helping families and meeting and talking to people. Clayton is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara (Flatt) Walker of Gainesboro, TN; 1 daughter and son-in-law: Melissa and Radford Duke of Putnam County, TN; 1 brother and 8 sisters-in-law: Kenny and Gertha Walker of Algood, TN, Linda Walker of Monterey, TN, Sherrie Walker of Huntington, TN, Pauline Moceri of Cookeville, TN, Samantha Roberts of Cookeville, TN, Villette and Bud Laycox of Cookeville, TN, Vanessa and Dale Holloway of Gainesboro, TN, Villary Larue of Candler, N.C; 2 brothers-in-law: Buddy Flatt of Kennesaw, GA, Fred and Missy Flatt of Gainesboro, TN; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded by his first wife Louise (Mathis) Walker, mother-in-law and father-in-law: Fred and Zora Flatt, several siblings, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law. Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
