Christine Downing Bowman

Funeral services for Mrs. Christine Downing Bowman, 84, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, February 6, 2010, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2 P.M. - 9 P. M., and Saturday from 9 A.M. until time of services. She passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN. She was born December 16, 1925, in Monroe County, KY, to the late Fred and Glynn Downing. On February 17, 1945, she was married to the late Lenver D. Bowman, who passed away December 23, 2004. She was the owner and operator of Christine's Beauty Shop. She was a member of the Gainesboro First United Methodist Church and an active member of 55 and Alive. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Granddaughter: Rebecca Bowman; and 1 Sister: Clara Nell "Tootsie" Clark. Survivors include 1 Son: Richard L. (Patsy) Bowman of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Daughter: Judy (David) Logue of Hendersonville, TN; 3 Grandchildren: Jeff (Krystal) Bowman of Gainesboro, TN, Laura (Anthony) Poteet of Hendersonville, TN, and David Logue, Jr. of Nashville, TN; 3 Great- Grandchildren: Brady Len Bowman, Jacob Poteet, and Hannah Poteet; and 3 Sisters: Norma Jean McClendon and Virginia Landrum, both of Tompkinsville, KY, and Kathleen Cook of FL.
