Age 80

Charles Ray Young of Cookeville better known as Ray Young was born April 8, 1940 in Jackson County, TN and he passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021 at his residence at the age of 80. He was the son of William Fred Young and Bessie Mae Flatt Young. He was a retired truck driver, member of the Teamsters Union and the Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing, watching westerns, riding a trike, playing cards at the Senior Citizens Center and going to auctions. He was married on August 31, 2012 to Ruth Henry Jackson Young. Mr. Young was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Nanella Hobbs, daughter, Lisa Young and brother, Bruce Young. Survivors include his wife Ruth Jackson Young of Cookeville; son, Todd (Vivian) Young of Clovis, CA; step-children, Mona (Joe Hamilton) Taylor, Mike (Patricia) Jackson and Monica (Phillip) Robinson; brothers, Roy (Essie) Young, Jerry (Jo Ann) Young and Burton (Shelia) Young all of Gainesboro and Sheldon (Lori) Young of Bunker, MO; grandchildren, Allison and Torie Young both of Clovis, CA; special friend, Ralph Maberry; special thanks to Jeff and Judy McDaniel. Several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 1 pm at the Center Grove Church of Christ with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 am until service time at 1. Memorial donations may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
