Charles Lewis Dawes, 73 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at his home in Cookeville, Tennessee.
Charles was born on Saturday, October 28, 1950, in Gainsboro, Tennessee, and he was the son of the late Willie Austin Dawes and the late Maggie "LucyBell" (Scantland) Smith.
Charles was a loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandpa. Charles was loved by those who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Carolyn Jean (Harris) Dawes of Cookeville, TN; sister, Rose Pharris of Gainesboro, TN; brother, Richard (Carol) Dawes of Cookeville, TN; 3 daughters, Tammy Coffman and Melissa (John) Dietz of Gainesboro, TN and Myra (Thomas) Humphrey of McMinnville, TN; 2 sons, Michael Dawes of Gainesboro, TN, and Michael " Bumper" Sims of Cookeville, TN; 2 nephews, Christopher Dawes and Jimmy Adams; 7 grandkids, TJ Carpenter, Brooke Moore, Austin Haney, Keisha Haney, Sky Dawes, Braiden (Mandy) Ervin, and Candra Sims; 5 great grandkids, Grayson and Jackson Carpenter, Ava Moore, Ryker Ervin, Waylen Haney, Colton Haney; 2 sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Joyce (Ronald) Maynard and Marsha Bowman, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his brother Billy Joe Dawes, niece, Joanna Adams, grandson Caleb Levi Sims and brother-in-law Michael Bowman.
Funeral Service for Charles Lewis Dawes will be held Friday, June 7, 2024, at 11:00 am from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bros. Steve Thornton and Maston Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in the Brotherton Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm and again, Friday, June 7, 2024, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
