Funeral services for Mr. Charles E. Cassetty, 87, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, will be held at 3 P.M. on Monday, April 24, at Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends Sunday from 10 A.M. - 9 P.M., and Monday from 11 A.M. until time of services at Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Mr. Cassetty passed away on Friday, April 21, 2006, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tennessee. He was born December 20, 1918, in Jackson County to the late John B. Cassetty and Mattie Webb Cassetty. On November 23, 1947, he was married to Navoy Hawkins Cassetty, who survives. Mr. Cassetty was a school teacher and coach, and a general agent of Franklin Life Insurance Co. for 55 years. He was a member of the Gainesboro Church of Christ and Gainesboro Rotary Club. He was a former member and chairman of the Jackson County Board of Education. Mr. Cassetty served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel as a reserve commissioned officer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 Brothers: Chester Cassetty and Johnnie Cassetty; and 3 Sisters: Clio Clark, Maude Crabtree, and Elva Tardy. Survivors include his wife: Navoy Hawkins Cassetty of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Son and Daughter-in-Law: John B. and Angie Reed Cassetty of Gainesboro, TN; 2 Daughters and 1 Son-in-Law: Deborah & Mike Searcy and Charlene Cassetty, all of Gainesboro, TN; 5 Grandchildren: Mary Beth (Tommy) Brown, Ashley (Doug) Groves, Candace Brown, Anna Elkins and her fiance Jackson Moran, and Ian Bennett Cassetty; 4 Great-Grandchildren: Colby and Connor Brown, and Cameron and Kristin Groves; and 1 Sister-in-Law: Claudine Cassetty of Gainesboro, TN.
