Bobbie Melton

Funeral services for Mr. Bobbie G. Melton, 75, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, and formerly of Columbus, Indiana, will be held at 1 P.M. on Monday, November 8, at the Center Grove Church of Christ in Jackson Co. Burial will follow in the Young Cemetery in the Center Grove community of Jackson Co. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from noon until 9 P.M., and Monday from 9 A.M. until time of services. Mr. Melton passed away on Friday, November 5, 2004, at his residence. He was born March 22, 1929, in Clay County, TN, to the late Herman Talmage Melton and Mary Dean Sevier Melton. Mr. Melton was a pipe fitter and a security guard at Crotty, Inc. On June 27, 1953, he was married to Freeda Starnes-Axsom Melton, who survives. He was a member of the Center Grove Church of Christ and the pipe fitters union local 440. Mr. Melton was preceded in death by 2 Brothers: Aaron Melton and Joe Melton; and 1 Sister: Alene Ames. His family includes his wife: Freeda Starnes-Axsom Melton of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Son: Randall (Kim) Melton of Columbus, Indiana; 1 Daughter: Saundra "Susie" Johnson of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Granddaughter: Hailey Renea' Johnson of Gainesboro, TN; 3 Grandsons: Darrion Melton, Sean Swegman, and Andrew Hall all of Columbus, IN; 3 Brothers: Billy (Geraldine) Melton, Fred (Shirley) Melton, and George (Betty Sue) Melton all of Clay County, TN; 3 Sisters: Kathleen Brady and Betty Smith of Celina, TN, and Francis Fox of California; Special Brothers and Sisters-In-Law: Carroll & Barbara Dunham, Terry & Sandy Axsom, and Shelia Axsom all of Columbus, Indiana, and Pat Wynn of California; and his Mother-in-Law: Mary Axsom of Columbus, Indiana. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Dr. Doug Dycus and Bro. John Mabery will officiate at the services.
