Betty Gilley

Betty Monette Gilley was born May 13, 1937. She passed away on April 12, 2024 at NHC Cookeville at the age of 86.. She was born in Appalachia, Virginia. 

She was the daughter of the late Kemp Henderson Phillips and Birdie Mae Delph Phillips.  

Ms. Betty married Jack Vinson Gilley.  She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack Gilley, sons: Richard Gilley and Randall Gilley; daughters: Lovely Mae Sturgill of Fayetteville, NC, and Mary Ann Gilley of Effingham IL; sister: Virginia Tritt of Bristol, VA. 

Survivors include her sons: Jackie (Wanda) Gilley of Sparta, TN and Mitchell Wayne Gilley of Hillsville, VA; daughters: Sandra (Doug) Clark of Cookeville, TN, Carolyn Norris of Bogalusa, LA, Barbara Hembree of Effingham, IL, Bernita Riddle of Big Stone Gap, VA; twenty grandchildren; several great grandchildren and a few great- great grandchildren.  Many other friends and relatives survive.

The family has chosen cremation at this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to assist with cremation expenses. Donations may be made by contacting the business office of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home.
