Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Louise Scantland Barlow, 78, of the Old Antioch community of Jackson County, Tennessee, will be held at 1 P.M. on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Lynn Cemetery in the Burristown community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2 P.M. - 8 P.M., and Wednesday from 12 Noon until time of services. She passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2010, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN. She was born December 10, 1931, in Jackson County, TN, to the late William and Ora Hix Scantland. On April 19, 1948, she was married to the late Silas Eugene "Gene" Barlow, who passed away December 24, 2009. She was a homemaker and former employee of Jackson County Hospital. She was a member of the Sugar Creek Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Daughter: Glenda Faye Barlow; 1 Grandson: Max Barlow; 4 Brothers: Lawton (Geraldine) Scantland, Eston (Anna Ruth) Scantland, Jim Scantland, and Elbert Scantland; 3 Brothers-in-Law: Thomas Stewart, Earl Barlow, and Donnie Hix; and 1 Sister-in-Law: Willene Scantland. Survivors include 2 Sons: Jerry R. Barlow of Cincinnati, OH, and Danny L. Barlow of Tipp City, OH; 4 Grandchildren: Sydni Barlow, Quinci Barlow, Ashley Barlow, and Colton Barlow; 2 Brothers: Lando Scantland and Joe (Edna) Scantland, all of Gainesboro, TN; 4 Sisters: Martha (Earl) Flynn, Dorothy Stewart, and Betty Hix, all of Gainesboro, TN, and Ina (Charlie) Poston of Livingston, TN; 2 Sisters-in-Law: Betty Scantland and Idell Scantland, both of Gainesboro, TN; and 2 Brothers- in-Law: James F. Barlow and Paul Barlow. Bro. Jimmy Anderson will officiate at the services.
