Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Ann Ray, 63, of Portland, Tennessee, will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Pharris Cemetery in the McCoinsville community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 P.M. - 9 P.M., and on Thursday from 10 A.M. until time of services. She passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Alive Hospice, Madison Campus in Madison, TN. She was born December 3, 1950, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Homer Shepherd and Gladys Heady Shepherd. She was married to the late Michael V. Ray, who passed away March 29, 2008. She was an automotive factory worker, and a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Infant Sister. Survivors include 2 Sons: Chad Avent of Smithville, TN, and Michael (Jennifer) Ray of Hendersonville, TN; 1 Daughter: Shaunna Avent of Portland, TN; 9 Grandchildren: Hillary Avent, Shawn Michael, Jimmy Ray, Casey Avent, Kara Robertson, Ben Ray, Bastian, Anna Ray, and Abby Ray; and 1 Brother: Dale Shepherd of Nashville, TN.
