Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Ruth Carlile Scantland, 77, of Cookeville, Tennessee, will be held at 3 P.M. on Saturday, February 21, 2009, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Lynn Cemetery in the Burristown community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 P.M. - 9 P.M., and Saturday from 11 A.M until time of services. Mrs. Scantland passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN. She was born August 8, 1931, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Oliver and Prillie Hooten Carlile. On November 22, 1950, she was married to the late Eston Scantland, who passed away July 4, 2005. She was a homemaker and retired factory worker. She was a member of the Double Springs Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Son: James Elton Scantland; 2 Brothers: Ray and Earl Carlile; and 2 Sisters: Ivory Pyron and Rosie Barlow. Survivors include 1 Son: Stephen Scantland of Cookeville, TN; 1 Daughter: Karen Scantland of Cookeville, TN; and 1 Sister: Norma Smith of Cookeville, TN. Bro. Jimmy Anderson, Bro. Ronald Strong, and Dr. Doug Dycus will officiate at the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Scantland Family or the charity of one's choice.
